Colorado. While working on a Mississippi riverboat, Ford escaped in Illinois. He migrated to Nicaragua where he ran a hotel and restaurant eventually returning to the U.S. living in Colorado where he opened several businesses. Visitors today can tour the Barney Ford House Museum in Breckenridge, Colorado.
