Chair. In 1936, Sylvan "Syl" Goldman, who owned a chain of grocery stores in Oklahoma City, paired with Fred Young to fit a folding chair with wheels and two wire baskets. In 1947, he formed Folding Carrier Co. to manufacture purpose-built shopping carts.
