Safavid Empire. The Ottoman-Safavid War of 1532 – 1555 concluded with the Peace of Amasya. The treaty gave the Ottomans Baghdad, lower Mesopotamia, the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and part of the Persian Gulf coast. Suleiman the Magnificent was sultan of the Ottomans during the conflict.
