The world’s oldest military museum that is built on the actual battlefield it commemorates is in this country.
Russia. The State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve preserves the artifacts and history of the Sept. 7, 1812, battle of Borodino, in which Napoleon defeated a Russian army under Gen. Mikhail Kutuzov but at enormous cost. The two armies’ combined losses exceeded 70,000, including 60 generals. The museum was founded in 1839.
