The 38th President of the United States survived two assassination attempts in the month of September 1975. On September 5, a follower of notorious cult leader Charles Manson, Lynette "Squeaky? Fromme, pointed a loaded gun at President Ford in Sacramento, California. A Secret Service agent wrestled the gun from Fromme before a shot could be fired. Little more than two weeks later, on September 22 in San Francisco, a second attempt was made on the President Ford?s life. As Ford was entering a limousine, would-be assassin Sara Jane Moore managed to fire a shot before being apprehended. Ford was unharmed. The two assassination attempts were unrelated and both women were convicted and imprisoned.
