British cap badge 9th Lancers Zita Fletcher A cap badge of the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers is shown on a British officer’s pre-1952 peaked service dress cap. The badge features crossed lances, adopted as weapons by the regiment in 1816, with pennons and the imperial crown. The regiment received 13 Victoria Crosses during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 and fought with distinction in North Africa during World War II. The badge was worn in both world wars.
