USS Ward (APD-16), was a World War I-era destroyer recommissioned for service in World War II. Best known for depth-charging a Japanese midget submarine just outside Pearl Harbor, Ward spent the war as a auxiliary personnel destroyer, reconfigured as a fast troop transport. The APDs were nicknamed Green Dragons because of their green paint base and camouflage scheme. Ward was attacked and suffered severe damage during the Leyte campaign in 1944. She was deliberately sunk December 7, 1944. (Naval History and Heritage Command)
