The 11th Armored Cavalry “Blackhorse” Regiment traces its origins to the 11th Cavalry Regiment, formed in 1901. After a series of redesignatons, it became the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in 1948. The unit served in Vietnam 1966-72. (Historynet Archives)
