Bill Clinton summary: Bill Clinton was the 42nd president of the United States. He was born in Arkansas in 1946. While in high school, Clinton attended Boys State and earned a position as a representative in the American Legion’s Boys Nation, which gave him the opportunity to meet then-president John F. Kennedy. Clinton went on to attend Georgetown University, followed by Oxford University. During his time at Oxford, Clinton was drafted. He returned to Arkansas and joined the ROTC, but soon headed back to Oxford without having to serve actively. After Oxford, Clinton attended Yale University. Upon graduation, Clinton returned to Arkansas where he taught law and entered politics.
1n 1976, Clinton was elected as state attorney general. Two years later, he became governor of Arkansas. Clinton lost his bid for re-election, but he was successful in the following election, and he went on to serve four terms consecutively. In 1992, Clinton defeated George H.W. Bush and became the 42nd president of the United States. Clinton was re-elected in 1996. Despite his many accomplishments during his second term, his presidency was marred by a scandal that resulted in his impeachment. Charged with obstruction of justice and perjury in regards to an affair with a White House intern, Clinton was acquitted by the senate. The Monica Lewinsky scandal made headlines of the country for months and is still a hot debate at times. He and his wife, Hillary, remain active in politics. His wife is also heavily involved in the political scene and is often talked about as a presidential candidate.
