Armstrong Glenn damage

Low level missions were inherently dangerous. Fellow future astronaut John Glenn shows off the tail of his battle-damaged Panther during the summer of 1953. The plane had 714 holes in it from enemy shrapnel. He would transition to the F-86 Sabre and bag three MiG-15 fighters. (U.S. Air Force photo)
