(Original Caption) 3/8/1965-Da Nang, South Vietnam- US marines splash ashore from a landing vesel at a beach some ten miles north of Da Nang early March 8th. The Leathernecks are part of a 3,500-man force ordered to South Vietnam to Protect the Da Nang Air Base. They will relieve Vietnamese troops now guarding the Base, freeing them for combat against the Viet Cong.
