U.S. bombing of Cambodia. In February 1969, in violation of government restrictions against attacks on an officially neutral nation, Pres. Richard Nixon authorized air strikes against North Vietnamese and Vietcong bases in Cambodia that were allowing communist troops to prepare for and carry out operations in South Vietnam.
