Major General Nathanael Greene
managed a family forge in Rhode Island before the war, but by 1775 he had become the Continental Army’s youngest brigadier general.
In early 1781 he determined to dismantle the enemy’s
network of military posts across South Carolina. Lord Rawdon, only 27
