On March 8 the U.S. Navy buried at Arlington National Cemetery the remains of two seamen found in the wreckage of the USS Monitor. The Civil War ironclad sank in a storm 150 years ago. The skeletons of the two men were discovered during a 2002 expedition to recover a gun turret. Despite facial reconstruction and other efforts to identify the sailors, they remain unknown.

MHQ Senior Picture Editor Jennifer E. Berry attended the ceremony and posted a slideshow of her photographs here. Speakers included Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Civil War historian James McPherson.
