On the night of September 21, 1965, Flying Officer Jamal A. Khan of F-104A-equipped No. 9 Squadron, Pakistan Air Force, intercepted an English Electric Canberra, becoming the first pilot to successfully use a Starfighter in the role for which it had been originally designed.
