A new traveling exhibit that looks back at the tumultuous year of 1968 debuts Oct. 14, 2011 at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul, Minn.
“The 1968 Exhibit” traces the escalating war in Vietnam and its growing opposition, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, the women’s liberation and black power movements, and the election of President Richard Nixon.
The 5,000-square-foot exhibit is divided into 12 sections — one for each month of the year. The experience begins in January with a Huey helicopter that has “landed” in a living room, bringing the Vietnam War front and center.
