Chef Boyardee. Hector Boiardi became highly successful as the head chef at the Plaza Hotel in New York City and Hotel Winton in Cleveland. Patrons wanted to prepare his dishes at home so he canned his meals under the name Chef Boyardee. He died in 1985 at age 87.
