Fred Sloman was inducted as a hero into the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame in recognition of this accomplishment.
Teaching and living in the School on Wheels. Functioning from 1926-1965, the School located in a converted rail car, brought education to remote sections of Canada. Sloman, his wife, and their five children lived in the rail car ten months of the year.
