Bunker Hill, in the American Revolution. The British charged up the hill twice but were driven back by Colonial troops commanded by Col. Prescott. On the third charge, the Colonials fled, as they were out of ammunition. Most of the battle actually took place on Breed’s Hill outside Boston but was mistakenly named for a neighboring height.
