Focke-Wulf FW 200. A four-engine, long-range bomber, it was the first heavier-than-air craft that flew non-stop from Berlin to New York City, some 4,000 miles. The German Kriegsmarine lacked a surface fleet strong enough to confront Britain’s Royal Navy on favorable terms and had no aircraft carriers. In cooperation with the U-boat fleet, the Condor became the "eyes" of the German navy.
