Boarding school for orphaned boys. Hershey and his wife, Kitty, founded the Milton Hershey School in 1909. Today, the school serves both girls and boys of all ethnicities who are low-income and in social need. Funded by the Milton Hershey School Trust, the school provides education, housing, food, medical care, psychological health care, clothing, and recreational activities at no cost to the children’s families. Currently, there are 9,000 alumni.
