Typewriter or, today, any keyboard with a typewriter-style layout. QWERTY is the top row of letters on the left. To solve the problem of keys sticking, the most commonly used letters were spread out instead of appearing alphabetically. The first practical typewriter was manufactured by the Remington Arms Company.
