LANDMARK DOCUMENTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY, (Facts On File, Inc., $149.95).

More than 1,200 documents–Supreme Court decisions, government charters and constitutions, legislation, and treaties–covering almost 500 years of American history are presented in this CD-ROM for Macintosh and Windows. Among the documents included in this comprehensive resource guide’s six sections are the Mayflower Compact of 1620, the Articles of Confederation of 1777, the Alien Act of 1798, the first speech in a series of lectures on slavery given by Frederick Douglass (1817-95) in 1850, the 1861 Constitution of the Confederate States of America, the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, Robert E. Lee’s (1807-70) 1865 farewell to his soldiers, Germany’s 1945 surrender in World War II, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. With the exception of the longest documents, all are in full text. Also featured are 250 biographies of notable statesmen, writers, and activists. Photographs, illustrations, and video clips complement the entries.
