The American Society of Magazine Editors has named MHQ: The Quarterly Journal of Military History as a finalist in the 2013 National Magazine Awards competition. The competition, which is nearing its 50th anniversary, each year honors the best reporting, writing, editing, and design in magazine publishing. These are the “Oscars” of the industry.
In the category of Special-Interest Magazines, MHQ is a nominee for General Excellence—the overall quality of the magazine. The four other finalists in the category are Scientific American, Outside magazine, The Fader, and mental_floss. The winner will be named at a May 2 gala in New York City.
