ACWP-191100-PEARIDGE-07

The Battle of Pea Ridge was a two-day affair, but the bulk of fighting took place March 7, first with a morning clash between Sterling Price’s Confederates and Eugene A. Carr’s Yankees at Elkhorn Tavern and then, as shown here, in the bloody struggle at Leetown, where Ben McCulloch was killed. On the 8th, a two-hour artillery barrage and an attack by the Federals forced a Confederate retreat.
