The Springfield Armory National Historic Site features an “organ” of Springfield Model 1861 rifled muskets, a new and deadly technology of the Civil War. The “organ” construction is an allusion to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1843 poem, “The Arsenal at Springfield.” (National Park Service)
