Sadat offered peace for land on Israel before the war has even started and they refused it…..Only after the war that they accepted the peace and that was Sadat's plan .Because Israel underestimated Egyptians and thought that they don't deserve peace because Israelis are invincible like they claimed but after they got beaten in 73 for the first time they learned respect and peace came…Sadat said it himself to the Israelis when he went to them "THERE WAS A BARRIER OF PEACE BETWEEN US U MUST ADMIT IT HAS BEEN CRUSHED BY EGYPTIAN MEN".That summarizes the whole conflict.

You amaze me with your statements. How did you get to this certainty that what we dream of is conquest? You are re-writing history with this statement. We were quite happy to live within the confines of the thin insignificant strip of land that we were given in 1948. What did we conquer? We kept the Golan hights after two wars with Syria that we did not want. Now we have a buffer zone in the case of another war. We gave back Sinai when Egypt offered peace. We pulled out of Gaza unilatterally in the hope of peace that never materialized. We will gladly pull out of the west bank if anyone gives us a security that animosity will stop. Wake up!!

Contrary to your unfounded theory, the fact is that President Sadat later found a much better way of regaining "the entire" Sinai peninsula without risking anybody's life exept for his own. He offered peace!!!! That was all he had to do.
But he was killed by Egyptians for doing that.We may have also misunderstood Jamal Abdul Nasser's howling promises of killing all Jews and drowning their children in the sea. You must admit that it is a strange way to offer peace.

Hello Omar
Please take it as a fact. Israel was never interrested and will never be interrested in taking Egypt or Africa or anything that belons to those nations. Israel never initiated a conflict with Egypt. Unlike the Egyptian attitude, Israelis were and still are proud of the peace and normalization of relationships with Egypt.
It is sad that you still take pride in the events os tha war. I can only reitirate Golda Meir in saying that we are angry at the arab states for forcing us to kill their sons. We would have been much happier if those people (Egytian, Syrian and Israelis) would have been alive and if the maney wasted on war would have been spent to give people as better life.

Israel dreams of conquest that I know for sure they like to control and force powers on others ,of course I am exaggerating about Africa but The concept is true.And without US aid Israel would've never won anything in 73 war The goal was not to destroy Israel but to reclaim the lost land and that is a noble goal worth dying for and to show that Israelis aren't invisible and that Egypt is capable of crossing and crushing the barliv line it was a matter of dignity and principle and in order to make peace war was necessary since Israel refused peace before but after the war they gave more respect unfortunately that is the only way to deal with Israel.

You don't seriously believe that drivel, do you?
The Israeli have fought four major wars since independence in 1948, 3 of them were wars for survival and the 56 suez war was fought by the French and Brits with Israeli assistance. Maybe this one was a war of aggression but not the others. As for taking over Africa…..PLEASE !!!!!!

There are things missing The last battle in this war was the battle of Suez city ,1 day before ceasefire the Israelis tried to take control of Suez as a last battle to turn the tide but simple Egyptian militia citizens of Suez crushed the Israelis in the city's streets and completely squelched Israeli paratroopers and tanks .Egyptian determination and bravery truly prevailed in this war,and soviet support was limited since the weapons were bought but US support for Israel was limitless with the news weapons of the day.If not for the Egyptian men who fought in the desert .Israel would have taken not only Egypt but Africa.

Truly an amazing war. The Israel Defense Force was not mobilized when war broke and was simultaneously attacked from two opposite ends by well-equipped Soviet client states. Even with all the cards stacked against them, the Israelis achieved a stunning victory against the Arab states and they did so without the help of the airforce. As a military feat, the Yom Kippur War dwarfs Israel's past military achievements. Despite the fact that they were fighting a two-front war against the combined Arab might of Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Jordan, plus other Arab contingents, armed with the most sophisticated Soviet military hardware, they still prevailed. That speaks volumes of the toughness of the Israeli soldier and the absolute professionalism of Israel's field commanders. Well done Israel

I pumped by chance into your description of the Israeli crossing of the Suez canal during the 1973 war
The operation description is not accurate and missing the role of the Armored Brigade 421 which carried the crossing equipment / means and was the FIRST tank brigade crossing the Suez canal – that is a simple fact
