There are many theories as to why he was not scalped, and one of those is that the Lakota did not want his soul to escape and roam the land for eternity. Another theory is that the Lakota were unsure as to his position in the army, as he was wearing a deer skin jacket and not the normal blue fatigues of the cavalry, so the Lakota may have mistakenly assumed he was a scout or frontiersman and it was not customary to scalp those who were not "the enemy." Though European Americans did cheat, lie, and steal (with regards to the lands of current America and the "treaties" that were signed), it is also true that there were many "whites" who were friends to the tribes of Native Americans and lobbied for peaceful resolutions. And of course you know absolutely nothing on the subject because native american history is apparently not important enough to teach more than a half a class segment in any high school history class. Maybe you should consider ACTUALLY learning about your countries REAL history.
