My dad, S. Sgt. Vincent N. Paolini was a gunner on a B-29 during WW II. He died of a heart attack on March 17, 1990, 3 1/2 months shy of his 79th birthday. All of our family was very proud of him. The one name I remember my dad mentioning most was Henry Pisterza, although I know there were others he mentioned often. I would love to hear any news on any of the other members of his crew.

Excerp from "World War II: 40th Bomb Group"

The life of Eddie Allen, one of the most famous B-29s, came to an abrupt halt on the second Tokyo mission. Named after the Boeing test pilot who died in the crash of a B-29 prototype, Eddie Allen had bombed targets in seven countries before meeting its demise.

I am the brother of one of the pilots of the Eddie Allen from Tinian Island. Capt. Eino Jenstrom was the fourth command pilot and the last to fly the Eddie Allen.

His story is written in Air Force Magazine - August 1980 titled "The Last Flight Of The Eddie Allen".

I joined the 40th Bomb Group in Pratt in Dec. 1943 and served with the 40th until the war ended. I was an Instrument Specialist and worked on every B-29 in the 44th Sqdn. I flew into our base in Hsinching, China three times as part of the maintenance team.

I was priviileged to be part of the 40th Bomb Group and have many good memories about it. I was a good, life-changing experience for me.

My father, who passed some years ago, served as a Central Fire Control Engineer in the CBI and Pacific. His military record was among those destroyed by fire well after the war.

I'm looking to find anyone who might remember him or who knows anything about his service and experiences.

Please contact me at your convenience if you have any information.

And a salute to those that served and sacrificed.
