As a disabled Republic of Vietnam Combat vet, General Schwarzkopf sounds like he had it right in his assesment of Westy. My experince was being issued wrong size shoes and being told to "like it", and being in a field hospital with slop, for chow. I could go on but the bitterness does not stop. God rest the souls of those brave United States troops.

Sometimes Westmoreland got to pin a medal on REAL heroes. (or heroines) There's a picture somewhere of the General pinning a medal on ARVN sargeant Hô Thi Quê of the 44th Ranger Batallion (That's right, a woman gets decorated!) She was called "The Tiger Lady".

In those days, the emphasis was on creased fatigues and spit shined boots. "Going Native" was very frowned on, also even with the Special Forces really out in the boonies working with their Mike forces.
