		<description>Really speaking, Pontypridd isn&#039;t the gateway to the valleys .That particular distinction is given to Porth,(which in Welsh means Gateway),and lies about 3 miles north of Pontypridd.( which strangely enough means the earthen bridge ) The first pit in the Rhondda was dug by David Davies , just 1 mile north of Porth at a place called Dinas , which means &quot;City&quot;and just shows how important the place was to the miners who came there</description>
