I don't think much would have changed. Needless to say, in the Pacific War, battleships were proven to be not so effective, it was now a carrier war.
Even without P. Harbor, Japan would have taken most of the Paciific in exactly the same way. Perhaps the Phillipines would have been a little more difficult, but fact is, Japan was still much more prepared than the Allies in late 41-early 42. I don't think much would have changed in the progress of the war.

I don't see how a failed attack would have been any less of an act of war than the one that occurred. As for Hitler, the question would be if he still declares war on us in the event of the Japanese blowing their sucker-punch, since FDR made clear to Churchill that he'd be too fearful to press for a European war i the event of a Japanese attack on the U.S. Interesting.

The question is "If we won Pearl Harbor, would have WWII been lost?" With a US victory at Pearl Harbor and the political climate of isolationism, would we have remained on a course of staying out of the war? Without the industrial logistical power of the US would Britain and the Soviets been able to hold out against Hitler? Would the Japanese restrained their expansion to levels the US public would tolerate and they could maintain?

Would our frog be slowly boiled with the smugness of superiority instead of being thrown into the boiling waters of a world war?

The attack was a failure destoying a few old BB's that wern't fast enough to escort carriers. It left the sub base and oil farm intact. It gave the US the tremendus rally cry " Remember Pearl harbor".
