Dear Mr. Snead,

As far as I’ve been able to determine, the only major event of October 17, 1847, was the start of Neill S. Brown’s tenure as governor of Tennessee. The next day, October 18, Brig. Gen. Joseph Lanes’ anti-guerrilla brigade force won a battle at Atlixco against Mexican forces led by General Joaquín Rea.
