As a student of the life of Baxter Warren Earp, I can assure the author that Warren did not grow up in Colton, California. He was 22 years old when arriving at Temescal, Ca., thirty miles from Colton in 1877. Three years later in 1880 his father moved over to Colton.

Warren actually grew up in three different States - Iowa until he was 8 - San Bernardino, Ca., until age 13 - and then back to Missouri till age 20.

I am very surprised the author doesn't know the difference between "wear" and "ware".

"Bowing to his brother's desire to ware a badge and gun, Virgil would sometimes allow Warren to guard prisoners, deliver papers and join posses."
