Hi Andreas, I don't know much more than his diary said his fathers name was Andreas. Hans had a family, and died in Brooklyn 1908. My gr.gr.August Anderson was born in Sweden. No list of mother.
But August was in contact with Hans August. August grew up in Brookly. I have Hans family tree on my ancestry if you are on ancestry look me up.

Which one did you try to contact? They are all usually very good about getting back to people within 48 hours of inquiry. If you email conservation@marinersmuseum.org, it will get to Tina in the Monitor conservation program, and she will make sure that you get a response.

The most complete list currently available is contained in the recent book "The Monitor Boys: The Crew of the Union's First Ironclad," by John V. Quarstein. It was published in 2011 by The History Press. It is readily available on Amazon.com.

The linked page is only a small fraction of the crew. For some reason, they have never posted a complete list.

I have been studying the Monitor's crew for several years. I tried contacting them twice. They never had the courtesy to respond.
