Hi, my name is Gary Young and my fathers name was Clyde J. Young. He was with the Fifth Company Third Regiment of the 1SSF. I myself was with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam. If anyone knew my father who passed away a couple of years ago, I would love to here from you and learn more of what it was like for you then. My E-mail is gy3919@yahoo.com. Thank you for any information.

That's not true. Some of the FSSF were in Normandy, my father included. I've seen it in the history records.

This was a unit citation. I have my grandfathers. They were given the citation on August 28th 1992. It reads
To: Sergeant James N. Catellane, United States Army

For: Meritorious Achievement in ground combat against the armed enemy during World War II in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater of Operations.

Check with the U.S. War Office to see if they can send you a copy of his individual citation, because its really neat!

Good Luck,
James N. Catellane III

If anyone would like help or information on the First Special Service force I would love to assist you. I am currently working on a book on the Force and have tons of information. I have also collected some awesome stories that I heard directly from some of the veterans at the reunions. I also maintain correspondence with several of the surviving men from 3/3.
My grand-uncle was forcemen Robert S. Buckley KIA France 1944.
You can contact me at FSSF13669 at yahoo dot com
