While it's true that Joe, Sr. was a bootlegger who hated the British (probably with good cause, being an Irish Catholic), I'm unaware of any evidence that he was a war profiteer with close business ties to the Nazis (ala the Bush & Prescott families.)

What can one say about Joe Kennedy that hasn't been said before ?
If anyone has anything good to say, then let's hear it. This man, and the breed he spawned, did more evil to this country than the Mafia, the corrupt union bosses, greedy Wall Street bankers and aggrandising politicians ever did. Indeed, if anything can ever mitigate the behaviour of his sons, it'd be the fact that with Joe as a pa, what chance did they ever stand ? The easy answer to that is all the chances in the World that can be bought by the millions of dollars spent by Joe to grease the path of his sons careers. Were the Kennedys unlucky ? If God stands in judgement in Heaven, how could they ever have been anything else !?
