And yes, they did find the remains of a man with a bag, like that of a salesman, in the wall of the abandoned Fox home many years after all the members had deceased. There were young kids playing inside and it appeared that water had crumbled the wall and the bones were exposed. The body had been hidden between two walls that fell down.

Again, believe what you chose but do the research before dismissing accounts.

ps: And yes, I do realize I have typos in the above entry. If I could edit,I'd edit this line. "It's truly a shame; or wait, perhaps if they did post the facts, like that found by the scientists that put Kate Fox and many other mediums of the time, through rigorous testing to prove them false, they'd realize the so called confession didn't have much ground to stand on. Look up the scientist William Crookes and the other scientists who investigated these mediums."

This article is weak in facts and should not have been approved by History Net in the first place. Are we surprised that the Founders of this company History.net is also the founders of Weider Health and Fitness, Inc. out of Utah? With its CEO a member on the Utah State University Board, a school with old root ties to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The unraveling of the two sisters to "confess" the rappings and their abilities were a hoax was brought on because they were diseased from addiction, wanted revenge on their sister and the community that started questioning their habits, and hard up for money. They were paid $1500 and there were plenty of groups that wanted to support them to make sure they were made out to be fraudulent.

It's nice that HistoryNet.com decided to acknowledge this moment in time but it'd be nice if they did a little more history research and not publish such weak accounts as factual. It's truly a shame; or wait, perhaps if they did post the facts, like that found by the scientists that put Kate Fox and many other mediums of the time, through rigorous testing to prove them false. The scientific community wanted them to be proved as a hoax, along with the established churches, but the response they got angered all because they concluded that the findings "point[ed] to the agency of an outside intelligence."

Believe what you chose; just know that this article is only loosely based on facts. There are plenty of books and online articles to give you the answers about these sisters who helped ignite the Spiritualism movement.

I don't see why christian's should have a hard time believing that this happened the way the fox sisters first portrayed it. It's perfectly consistent with what the Seventh-day Adventists say happens when you die, and what kinds of miracles or apparitions fallen angels (aka demons) can perform. It Is Written has an episode called 'Knock, Knock' on this subject.

Didn't they later confess that it was NOT a hoax? and they only just caved under pressure when they said they were making the noises themselves? It's usually important to get the WHOLE story, don't you think?

Have you ever thought about creating an e-book or guest authoring on other sites? I have a blog centered on the same information you discuss and would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my audience would appreciate your work.
in one of the other articles i read, the fox sisters where upset with their older sister (the one who managed them) and decided to say it was all a hoax, and maybe some of it was but how can these "christains" talk so much smack?????? they expect everyone to "open their minds" yet they wrap their minds around one idea.. yep go on and pray for me, i pray for you all too! I think something happened, i think maybe the girls were threatened, or maybe blackmailed, who knows now there just isnt anyone to answer those questions. what i would like to know is who burned down there house, why they did it and if they were caught and punished... "thou shalt not kill" tisk tisk tisk. and for anyone who looks down their nose at spiritualists need to remember we are all gods children...
