I found this article very informative, and a interesting look back on history, and think it is very benificial to a secondary student. I found it kind of strang that at Carrington's headquarters in Fort Phil Kearny, Indian warriors continued to disrupt the military's daily business outside of the fourts area. I believe that this was what led up to alot of the problems later on. I am very suprised by this, because if Fetterman would have obeyed his orders this entire massacre could have been avoided. However, there was so much information it was harder to read, and process. I believe that the entire ordeal was the whites fault, because they were the ones who took over the area from the indians.

I feel that secondary students should know the severity of these two events and being that it happened right here in Wyoming secondary students should be aware and knownledageable on this topics. The whites scalped the indians and killed women and children then they shot themselves after the massacre was over that is definitely the critical parts. Along with the whites being the reasoning to the critivcal mutiltion i feel they are also the main blame for the entire event. They tried to over rule the indians that were on their own land minding their own business as well.

I completely agree with you Brian, the article was long, but it was necissary. The deatil and complicated story called for the piece to be longer than a normal article.

I would have to agree with J.L. this aticle was truely fascination, and informative. I enjoyed reading because it was a piece of history I have never been exposed to, and it took place here in Wyoming.

It is so long because it is a long and complicated story, with many details and personalities. People these days only want short, dumb down versions of history, I like the long texts. they give meat to a story and leaves nothing out. Thats how you learn, if you want the short version go to Wikipedia!
