I am related as well. We are very proud of John Adams and our extended family.

Although some of the comments in the article are not fluffy with rainbows it shows every family has some challanges. It is what you do with those challanges that matters. They learned to over come in spite of it all.

Thank you dearest Cousin

I am also a grandchild of John Adams. My grandmother has always told me great things about him. these people need to stop jugding and look at their own family tree.

What Marie said is totally 100% right, i'm also a great grandchild of John Adams and what I have learned is that he was a very smart guy. He cared about the USA a lot. No need to think badly about our family!

OOPS! Skipped a page.

However, his death is clouded over and since we do not know all the details, it doesnt do to speculate what the problem was...

Poe also was acting like a madman and his death was attributed to drink, but there's been the idea for some time that that may not be how he died.

From what's been erased about Charles only serves to wonder, just what really was going on with him.

I was curious about Charles and his early death, attributed to alcoholism? Based on what information?

Consider the Adams' were a New England family that's roots were formed through the Puritans and what would be considered 'harsh' or 'tough love' rearing of their children was the standard of the day not only for New Englanders, but for most people around the globe. You have to think in terms of the century it was. Life was hard, and if you weren't raised tough, life would run right over you. Which just goes to show you what happens if you weren't tough, look at Charles Adams and a death at age 30.

As to the HBO special, I kinda like to pass by that kind of 'history'...which of course is nothing more than Hollywoods version of history...usually warped, out of touch with the era or just plain wrong.

i have read several books on Abigail Adams, and i did not get the impression that she was as harsh as she is portrayed here. I don't know that this artical is entirely reliable in many aspects...
