And Baltimore as well.
We also attempted to invade Canada - whoever thought of that got a much-deserved butt-kicking when we tried.

The Bunker Hill portion of this article:
As an outsider looking in:
a) The claim in the article that the British would have gone on to destroy the Continental Army seemed a bit fetched ? Even if they had routed it, subsequent events proved that routing the Continental Army was not a war winning strategy ?

b) Did Bunker (Breed's) Hill really bolster confidence in the rebels' rank and file at the time that they could stand up to British regulars or was that a later spin ? Didn't the confidence booster already happen at Menotomy ?

Bunker Hill captures the imagination but a clearer case has to be made of how ultimately important it was ?

The Brits burned Washington D.C. and the War of 1812 went well for them until they showed up in New Orleans and got their butts kicked.

Your reply makes no sense, just sounds like anti-American vitriol. The article has nothing to do with who was right or wrong in the American-Mexican War. It is simply regards how a particular battle was an important part of a national history. If you are going to comment please be mature and substantiate your remarks. What was a lie?? And who qualifies as a real historian in your book? Polk may have wanted a war, but Santa Anna was a far cry from a peaceful and benevolent leader as well.

Mexico never attack the US but it was the opposite. As always the US. found some excuse to start the war to conquered Mexico. A bunch of lies, not supported by real historians. Your narrative is just pablum for HS. students

New Orleans was a bit of a faff for the brits. Should have brought howitzers.
Mind you, the US started it, and the Brits burned Washington DC to the ground, litterally, so the war went well for the brits
