I enjoyed the movie very much but have a very difficult time believing the accounts as told by europeans alone. History books usually favor the victor which was in this case, the invading europeans. Europeans love to retell other people's history to favor themselves.
Heck, they even have some who honestly believe they arrived in South Africa thousands of years before the blacks. Talk about a group of crazies....and pretty damn arrogant as well.
I would love to hear stories about Shaka as recounted by Zulu griots/storytellers. I'd bet they'd have a completely different account from the Anglo invaders.

I find it interesting that a religious argument breaks out over a comment directed towards Shaka Zulu

Skip through the religious texts? You've been through the Old Testament prophecies as well as the New testament accounts of Jesus? And citing all the evidence I have heard and read over the years will be difficult. The next best thing to the Bible would be Roman and Jewish texts under the Emperor Claudius. This should point you in the right direction.

actually, what i said was that i found that obscure fact surprising. i haven't yet concluded whether or not I believe Jesus actually existed. so it would be helpful if you could cite all this historical evidence of which you speak.

you can skip the religious texts, i've already been through them. i've also looked through the 'pagan' texts that look oddly similar to the Jesus story but preceded it.

The religious texts are historical. They are backed by as much if not more historical evidence than any other document from the time period. This is compelling evidence for his existence and that is without mentioning the 'religious documents' harmonies and consistencies despite the time spans and vast distances between the authors of the accounts of Jesus. So, to dismiss the existence of Jesus simply because most documents of his actions are considered by yourself as 'religious' is illogical.
