Marquis de Lafayette
Marquis de Lafayette, who was buried in Paris in 1834. Lafayette was orphaned at 13 and married at 16. He gave most of his personal fortune to the fight for American independence. He later served five years in an Austrian prison after fleeing France, where he was being denounced as a traitor.
