Chock Full o’ Nuts. The company’s chain of shops sold nuts until the Great Depression made even nuts a luxury. It converted to coffee shops, later sold coffee to grocery stores, and by 1955 was the top-selling brand in New York City. Robinson joined the firm as director of personnel and spokesperson two years later.
