I‘ll Take My Stand, published in 1930, included 12 essays that argued in favor of the simpler, individualistic agrarian way of life, such as that in Southern states of the US, over the conformity and dehumanization the authors saw in the growing industrial-based society. Among them was Robert Penn Warren, later the first US Poet Laureate.
