The original name of Project Blue Book, the U.S. Air Force unit initiated to investigate the numerous civilian and military reports of mysterious unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in February 1948 was Project Sign. A year later the unit was reorganized and renamed Project Grudge. Finally, in 1952, Project Grudge was upgraded and given the code name Project Blue Book.
