The search goes on. My cousins, the Hertrich family reside in Wash State and in Honolulu. If any one has more to offer please continue to submit. I would like in some way make contact with my cousins who like I are heirs to a rich part of American history.

In regards to the death of James "Bully" Wells. Mary Wells Petersen, Philip Wells' neice and my grandmother told me that James Wells was killed by a group of Native Americans near Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was hunting with his sons. Before he was killed, he told them that his wife and children were Indian. My grandmother had his bighorn sheep antlers in her attic from one of James Wells's hunting trips (Montana?). I remember the antlers. I am not sure what happened to them after my Grandmother passed away. My uncle Ron Petersen owned my grandmother's home.

I do not know of any website. Philip Wells wrote about the Wells family in a North Dakota History book several decades ago.

I am doing a project on Native Americans and I was wondering if there's an official website specifically for Philip Wells.

William Wallace Wells, my great-grandfather and army scout was Philip Wells brother. Mary Wells Petersen, my grandmother kept track of the Wells family tree. Aaron Wells, another brother of Philip Wells was stationed at Standing Rock reservation. Orman Wells lived in Canada, In the early eighties, my grandmother and I visited one of his granddaughters. There are several Wells cousins on the Crow Creek Reservation.

James Bully Wells was my G-G-Grandfather, His youngest daughter, Agnes Weels Reedy, was my greatgrandmother, the reference to Little Bighorn is interesting as Jane Graham Wells is said to be related to Thomas Eaton Graham, one of the few 7th Cavalry survivors. Bully Wells had a trading post in what is noe Frontenac, MN and it now operates as a tavern or resturant.
Maybe Donna Arrowood could write about the story of Thomas Graham and his men at Little Bighorn?
I had heard the story of Philip at Wounded Knee , Donna's story is pretty accurate. It didn't know exactly how Bully died but her story seems to be what my ancestors told.

I have been searching for information on an LaKota American Native possibly named High Walk (or some variation) who surrendered a gun on or about 1/5/1890 at the Rose Bud Reservation in South Dakota, 2 or 3 days after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The Sioux were "required" to surrender all their weapons. I've been searching for over 8 months and have had no success. Can anyone help? Thanks, D.
