My Uncle Kenneth Krampe survived with a bad wound. Anybody remember him? E-6. I've just recieved a box full of his stuff from that era. Going thru all the belongings and USS Nevada memrobilla is awsome.

My father, Dean R. Kreek, was one of the members of the band on the USS Nevada. He survived the attack and documented it in his diary which I still have. Dad was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association for many years in the Kansas City/St. Joseph, MO area.

Dad passed away on November 12, 2011, less than eight hours after hearing the proud news that his grandson (our son) Patrick was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy.

My cousin's name was Francis Thomas. He was a Naval Reserve Officer on duty at the time. Do you know if they were related? Lt. Cmdr. Thomas was approx 41 at time of attack.

Today, 6/13/2011, I attended the funeral of Thadious M. Jones, Jr., 91, Olive Branch, MS. Mr. Jones survived Pearl Harbor and was stationed on the USS Nevada with his brother. Mr. Jones died on 6/9/2011. He was a seaman deckhand not long out of boot camp when the attack at Pearl Harbor occurred. Mr. Jones told me that he was lying in his bunk when the first sounds of the attack could be heard. He ran to his station manning one of the 5 inch guns and stayed there until the battle ended.

Mr. Jones, his brother, and all who served during WWII were indeed a part of this country's greatest generation as described by Tom Brokaw. Rest in peace T.M. and thank you for your service.

I know my cousin did. I don't know about the others, except to say that there were at least several survivors of the Nevada.

Lt Cmdr Thomas was my cousin. The Nevada's saga is a story I tell everybody I can, especially on Memorial Day.
God Rest His Soul
