A very useful book unmatched to my knowledge in its breath and sucinctitude. The title of the first chapter intrigued me particularly but it was not what I had hoped-thought there might have been a treatment of on-board relationships between the emerging two sides--ala that found on the western outposts where officers had to spend some time together after resigning, etc. Wondered if there were ships at sea that experienced the same tensions? No criticism of the actual chapter, just the title. Very good treatments of the technological aspects and the best treatment I have found of the respective blockader/runner strategies and tactics, again, with a technological perspective as well.
