Former president George H. W. Bush helped dedicate the newly expanded museum. ""It is right and important that we honor the genuine valor of men and women who throughout our history have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, for the cause of freedom, and perhaps most of all for each other," Bush said at the opening ceremony. "Those who survive the war are always haunted by the memory of those they lost, their friends who never came home. We're also right to pause and thank the living for the honor and commitment they've shown, and continue to show, to preserving and protecting this, the greatest and freest nation on the face of the earth."
The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas, reopened on December 7, 2009, after a $15.5 million expansion. Take a look at the highlights of the museum's collection. (All photos courtesy of the National Museum of the Pacific War.)

My Name is Patricia, I live in La Paz Mexico That's at the tip of the peninsula. I have had for more than 40 years an album from the pacific war with about 300 photographs from Nanyo, Heng Yang, Hanoi. Photos from some people named Mr. Groff-Smith and Mr. Durden and some officers. I was wandering if anyone has interest in having them and if they have any value. This album was given to me by my grandfather, but I don't recall who he got it from.
